IPS officer Hemant M Nimbalkar was transferred again just days after he had been transferred to the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Internal Security Division (ISD) Bengaluru.
On Monday, the state government transferred him to the post of IGP Directorate of Civil Rights and Enforcement (DCRE). Earlier, Nimbalkar was holding the posting of Additional Commissioner of Administration of the state police when he was involved in a public spar with IPS officer D Roopa, who was serving home secretary over a controversy on the tender process of the multi-crore Safe City Project.
The two officers’ fight caused major embarrassment to the government. Roopa has alleged that Nimbalkar, while he was heading the tendering committee of the multi-crore safe city project, violated norms, while Nimbalkar had alleged that Roopa was interfering with the process without any authority. Both have complained to the chief secretary and the matter is pending enquiry. Taking strong exception, the government decided to transfer both the officials.
While Nimbalkar was posted as Inspector General of Internal security division, Roopa was posted at the Karnataka state handicraft development Corporation. However, within 12 days of transfer, the state government again transferred Nimbalkar to the DCRE cell.
